Raw Mango Sadam

  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp urad dal
  • 2 tsp channa dal
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups cooked rice (I used sona masoori rice)
  • 1 big sized Raw Mango shredded
  • 2 pieces whole red chilies
  • pinch of asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp peanuts

Raw Mango sadam is one of the South Indian variety rice which can go with spicy potato fry or potato chips.

Instructions

  • in a pan add 3 tbsp seasme oil and add mustard
  • once mustard seeds have sputtered, add urad dal, peanuts (optional) asafoetida, curry leaves
  • fry until urad dal turns light brown
  • add shredded Raw Mango , turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp salt and let it cook for 5 minutes on medium high flame
  • add cooked rice, salt and mix well, make sure to not over mix otherwise the rice will be smooshed
  • turn off the stove
Tips & Tricks
  • do not over cook the rice
  • if it's too spicy add a little ghee
  • increase the taste by adding 2 tsp coconut oil

Step by Step Instructions

  1. shred Raw Mango

  2. in a pan add 3 tbsp cooking oil and add mustard, once mustard seeds have sputtered add urad dal, channa dal, peanuts, green chillies and curry leaves, fry until both dals are turns light brown

  3. add shredded Raw Mango ,1/2 tsp salt and let it cook for 5 minutes on medium high flame

  4. add cooked rice, salt and mix well and make sure do not over mix then rice will be smooshed, turn off the stove

  5. yummy Raw Mango sadam is ready which can be served with potato chips or potato fry.
