  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 5 red chillies break into 2 inch pieces
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups puffed rice
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1/4 gram dal
  • 1/8 tsp asafoetida
  • 2 or 3 cloves garlic crushed(optional)

Instructions

  • in a pan add 1 tbsp coconut oil and add mustard
  • once mustard seeds have sputtered then add red chillies, asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves and fry for 1 minute
  • add fried gram dal, peanuts and fry until light golen color
  • add puffed rice fry on medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes
  • quick varutha pori(puffed rice) is ready!!!!!
Tips & Tricks
  • use heavy big pan to avoid spilling pori(puffed rice)
  • roast peanut in microwave for speed up the process

Step by Step Instructions

  1. in a pan add 1 tbsp coconut oil, once the oil is headted, add mustard seeds

  2. once the mustard seeds have sputtered, add red chillies, asafoetida, turmeric powder and fry for 1 minute

  3. add fried gram dal, peanuts and fry until it reaches a light golen color

  4. add puffed rice and fry on medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes

  5. quick varutha pori(puffed rice) is ready!!!!!
