soak channa dal and toor dal together for 1 hour in lukewarm water
add chopped beans in a pan along with 1 cup of water and 1/2 tsp salt, cook on medium high flame until beans is tender (5 to 8 minutes), once beans are cooked drain the water and keep it aside
in a blender add soaked dals, red Chillies, asafoetida, curry leaves, and 1/2 tsp salt and grind it to coarsely paste (add couple of tsp water if needed)
in a pan add 2 tbsp cooking oil and add mustard, once mustard seeds are sputtered add urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves, fry until urad dal turns light brown
add ground dal paste and mix well
close the lid and stir in between 5 minutes for about 15 minutes
once the dal mixture is cooked add cooked, drained beans and mix well, close the lid and let it cook for 3 more minutes. Adjust the salt if needed and turn off the stove.
healthy paruppu usili is ready and enjoy with hot white rice or as a side dish for any variety rice!!
